The Orlando Magic have hired former NBA head coach Randy Wittman as a coaching consultant and promoted Jay Hernandez and Matt Hill to assistant coach, the team announced Monday.

Wittman’s last coaching stop was in Washington, where he compiled a 178-199 overall regular-season record over five seasons and twice guided the Wizards to the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Wittman, 57, previously coached the Cleveland Cavaliers and Minnesota Timberwolves. During the 2005-06 season, he worked on the Magic’s coaching staff.

Hernandez and Hill are longtime Magic employees.

Hernandez joined the team for the 2014-15 season to take a job as an assistant coach for player development. Now, he’ll sit on the bench alongside coach Frank Vogel and fellow assistant coaches Chad Forcier and Corliss Williamson.

The Magic hired Hill in 2012 as a video analyst and was promoted in 2015 to manager of advanced scouting and player development specialist.

The team made its moves after assistant coach David Adelman left the Magic to join the Denver Nuggets as an assistant coach.
