Sheriff ’s Office: 2nd victim in Orange shooting has died
The second victim in a double shooting at an apartment complex on Forest City Road has died, according to the Orange County Sheriff ’s Office.
The men were shot on the playground at the Magnolia Court complex at 7632 Forest City Road around 4:46 p.m. Wednesday, said sheriff’s office spokesperson Jeff Williamson.
Brandon Williams, 27, and Kimonie Norman, 20, were severely injured when first responders arrived and were both taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center. Williams was pronounced dead upon arrival Wednesday and Norman died Thursday, Williamson said.
The complex was on lockdown until authorities finished searching each unit Wednesday afternoon, he said.
Authorities were still looking for a suspect as of Thursday evening.
A helicopter flew over the scene Wednesday after the incident, and a large law enforcement presence redirected traffic in both directions on Forest City Road. Freddy Fernandez, an area resident, was on his way to the nearby Forest City Adventist School. He said the school was also on locked down.
Williamson said Lockhart Middle School was also on lockdown during the investigation.
Jennifer McKinney, 47, was parked with her son on the side of the road, waiting for authorities to let her in to her home. “I’ve lived in this neighborhood my entire life, and this is very rare,” she said.
