Knights use unique helmets during big game
After a season of unique decals, UCF delivered another surprise during the team’s regular-season finale against rival USF.
For the No. 15 Knights’ blackout game against the Bulls, the helmets featured personalized UCF logo decals that were unique on each player’s helmet.
A photo of each of the players was featured on their respective helmets, shimmering within UCF’s main logo.
“It was crazy,” freshman wide receiver
said. “I didn’t really know what it was until I actually looked and examined the helmet and I noticed that it was me in the end zone. … They really spiced it up for us this game.”
For the first time this season, the team unveiled new uniforms for the game. The black jerseys featured a white color with gold numbers and replaced the pegasus logo on the sleeves with Knightro.
These may not be the only surprises left for the Knights this year. At the beginning of the season, the team’s website stated UCF had added two new jerseys and a new color of pants. The remaining jersey and pants color could be seen during the American Athletic Conference Championship or during a bowl game.

Evans, Pittman and Griffin played the final regularseason home game of their senior linebacker careers on Friday. Griffin, who was named 2016 American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year, received a huge cheer when he walked onto the field with his family.
The Knights will play one more game at Spectrum Stadium this season when they host Memphis next weekend in the American Conference Championship.
UCF got its first sellout of the season against USF. The game drew an announced crowd of 47,129, making it the fifth largest home crowd in school history.
“The crowd was unbelievable. The crowd when we showed up to the stadium was unbelievable,” UCF coach said. “The students have been supportive. This community’s unbelievable. This place is really special and I saw a glimpse tonight of what it can be.”
Thanks to stadium renovations, Friday’s game attracted the third-largest home crowd at Spectrum Stadium, which has been in use since the 2007 season. The largest crowd at the venue was 48,453 attending the Knights’ home game against Miami in 2009.
The Bulls’ offense had no problem completing long passes in the first half, leading to some recordsetting catches by junior wide receiver
He caught five catches for 201 yards, breaking the Bulls’ record for yards amassed during five catches. The previous record of 191 yards was set in 2012.
