‘Dilly Dilly:’ Mighty Patriots will rule over NFL again
COMMENTARY Super Bowl quarterback winners. He didn’t just look good Sunday — he was great.
3. Is Jay Ajayi feeling punished yet? The Dolphins were so upset with the running back’s attitude they made an example of him to the rest of the team by shipping the malcontent to … uh, the Super Bowl. Huh? OK, well, this is just another way this past season’s thinking went wrong. If you want to punish someone and send a message about how not to act, don’t trade him to a great team. Ajayi ran for 73 yards, caught three passes for 26 more yards Sunday and got a trip to Minnesota in February. Take that, Jay.
4. Browerville, Minn. (pop. 790). This town situated 150 miles northwest of Minneapolis is about to be a focus of the nation’s prying attention. Why? Tom Brady’s mom was from there, meaning each summer he visited the family farm there. Stories abound of Young Tom throwing baseballs through grandpa’s window or getting competitive over a day of fishing. And you thought you knew everything about Brady.
5. Question of the Game: Is the margin of talent difference greater between the quarterbacks, Brady and Foles, or the head coaches, Belichick and former Dolphins backup quarterback Doug Pederson? It’s close. But I’m going with the coaches just because Foles made some throws on Sunday.
6. Dilly, Dilly. The Super Bowl is typically a series of commercials people talk about the next day interrupted by a game they occasionally remember. This will be no different. The very fact the medieval kingdom of “Dilly Dilly” not only had a new commercial on Sunday but promises another new one on Super Sunday makes it all worth watching.
7. Patriots 31, Eagles 17. Skip the game. Hand Belichick the trophy. And let’s get on to the all-important NFL Scouting Combine.
