Injury-riddled UCF hopes to get on track with pair of home wins

It’s no stretch to say the UCF basketball team’s athletic training room has seen as much action as the hardcourt given all the devastating injuries this season.

With everyone healthy, the Knights promised to challenge for the American Athletic Conference title before a home crowd at Amway Center.

And with some key wins in a respectable conference, UCF was primed for an NCAA Tournament invitation.

Despite losing four key players to significant injuries — with just one returning so far in point guard B.J. Taylor — Johnny Dawkins said all the team’s goals are still in reach.

“Everything we want is still right in front of us and I told that to our guys,” Dawkins said before Tuesday’s practice. “We’re twothirds through our season, we have 10 great games remaining on our schedule. If we can compete in those games the way that I know we’re capable of, everything
