Orlando Sentinel - - LOCAL & STATE - Kate Santich

Students from March For Our Lives will hold a block party tonight at the Lake Eola Amphitheater — an event that’s part celebration, part voter-registration drive.

Launched by students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas in Parkland — the site of a Valentine’s Day mass shooting that left 17 people dead and another 17 injured — the March For Our Lives youth are making the Orlando stop as part of a national “Road to Change” tour to register new voters. In Florida, the bus tour will visit all 27 congressional districts before Aug. 1.

The Orlando event, 6-10 p.m. tonight, will feature U.S. Rep. Stephanie Murphy, D-Winter Park; Parkland survivors Delaney Tarr and Adam Alhanti; and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley. There will be visual art, musical entertainment, community vendors and food trucks.

Note that security measures, including bag checks and handheld metal detectors, may be in effect. The amphitheater is at 195 N. Rosalind Ave., Orlando. For more information, see marchforourlives.com/road-to-change/.
