FHP finds pedestrian, 56, dead in Volusia

Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating the death of a pedestrian Thursday night near Pierson in Volusia County, a spokeswoman said.

Troopers were called just after 10 p.m. to Bushnell Road near Lake George Road, Lt. Kim Montes said. They found a 56-year-old Pierson man dead at the scene.

Troopers originally were investigating a hit-and-run crash, but after consulting with the medical examiner on the scene, they no longer are looking for a driver, Montes said. Troopers are seeking any witnesses who could shed light on how the victim died. They are awaiting an autopsy report. No other information was available.
