Theft of wallet leads to co-worker’s arrest
NICEVILLE — A 23-year-old woman was charged with eight drug and theft charges after being found with marijuana and her co-worker’s stolen wallet. An Okaloosa County sheriff ’s deputy responded July 22 to a theft of a wallet at Props Ale House. The victim said her co-worker stole her wallet the previous day. She was notified by her credit card companies that someone was buying things without her permission.
The credit card companies said four cards were used at six Niceville-area stores with purchases totaling $2,369.39. Witnesses at the stores gave the deputy a description of the woman, and she was caught on security cameras buying the items and forging the signature.
The deputy saw a car matching the description of the woman’s and followed it. At first, she denied having the cards or stealing the wallet. When the deputy asked for her ID, she told him to look in the vehicle. When he opened the driver’s door, the deputy could smell marijuana. Another deputy searched the vehicle and found a small bag of marijuana in the passenger seat where a male passenger was sitting.
In a rear compartment, they found the victim’s wallet and other credit cards.
