Lake rivalry on tap Friday

Lake County football bragging rights are on the line Friday when Groveland South Lake (1-0) hosts Lake Minneola (1-0) in a matchup of familiar foes.

“We all grew up together, so whoever wins gets to talk the most trash,” said South Lake running back

For perspectiv­e, of the 48 teams that competed in the three state championsh­ips last season at Mission Inn, only 1A winner Circle Christian of Orlando broke 300 in any round. Winter Park coach said good play inspired more good play on a course that was in good shape with greens rolling true. But talent made it a special scoring day.

“Central Florida is truly a hot bed for junior golf,” Robison said. “So many of these players are playing the various tours during the spring and summer. They are pushing each other to be better all year long.”
