Lake Highland Prep conquered yet another volleyball nemesis on Thursday night, but it wasn’t easy — especially without standout setter
In a battle of defending state runners-up, the Highlanders staved off furious rallies in the first two sets and then used a big 6-0 run in the third set to sweep Bishop Moore 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-19) at home.
Lake Highland (14-2), ranked No. 52 nationally by PrepVolleyball.com, has lost only to No. 19 Tampa Plant and Ocala Trinity Catholic this season.

The Florida High School Athletic Association has scheduled an Oct. 10 special meeting of its athletic directors advisory committee for more discussion of a hotly debated proposal to revamp reclassification and state playoff formats.
The A.D. panel, which debated the proposal in September without reaching a clear consensus, will be looking at a much different model when it reconvenes.
The FHSAA staff unveiled Sunday a compromise plan that retains the traditions of district tournament play for all teams and classification of teams based on school enrollment. The original proposal called for using power rankings to reduce the trend of lopsided state tourney games. MaxPreps ratings are still part of the plan, but now just as a means to seed the playoffs.
The update calls for seven classifications, including 1A rural, for girls volleyball, boys and girls basketball, baseball, and softball; and six classes for boys and girls soccer, with no 1A.
