Food, drink specials raise funds for breast cancer awareness

- By Lauren Delgado

Eat and drink pink this month to raise funds for nonprofits geared toward breast cancer research and care.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Central Florida restaurants are donating part of the proceeds from these special pink items to these organizations.

Here are a few options:

4 Rivers Smokehouse: Dine on pink nachos piled with your choice of brisket, pulled pork, pulled chicken or burnt ends, cheddar, pico de gallo, shredded lettuce, jalapeños and cilantro at any 4 Rivers location. Part of the proceeds from each order will benefit partner organizations, including Florida Hospital for Women, The Donna Foundation, Hooked on Hope, Tallahassee Memorial Hospital Cancer Center, Climb for Cancer and the Lisa Boccard Foundation. Diners can also round their bills up to the nearest dollar amount to support these organizations all month long. (Find a 4 Rivers near you by visiting 4rsmokehouse.com).

B Resort & Spa: Sip on the Pretty in Pink cocktail ($10), a combination of vodka, pomegranate liqueur and pineapple juice. One dollar from each cocktail sold during October will be given to the American Cancer Society. (1905 Hotel Plaza Blvd, Lake Buena Vista; 407-828-2828; BHotelsand Resorts.com).

Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.: Part of the proceeds from every strawberry mango chiller and limited edition pink souvenir glass sold will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. (Find a Bubba Gump near you by visiting BubbaGump.com).

Ivanhoe Park Brewing Co.: Opt for this brewery’s pink beer — 50 percent of the sales will benefit the American Cancer Society all month long in October. In addition, 100 percent of the proceeds of this brew will be given to ACS on Oct. 27 — the day of the Making Strides of Orlando event at Lake Eola Park. (Ivanhoe Park Brewing Co., 1300 Alden Road, Orlando; 407-270-6749; Facebook.com).

Sugar Factory: One dollar of every Pretty in Pink milkshake will be donated to the Susan G. Komen organization. This intenselooking shake features a white chocolate ganachedipped glass decorated with pink starbursts, sprinkles and a bubble-gum ribbon. It’s topped with a pink chocolate dipped red velvet cake pop, a candy necklace, pink and white chocolate curls, and a lollipop.
