Deputies: Wife claims stabbing was accidental
A 38-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday in the killing of her husband, after Polk County sheriff’s deputies say she gave conflicting versions of his death.
Rachel Fidanian of Lakeland is being charged with second degree murder after 40-year-old Bryant Fidanian died of a stab wound through his rib bones on June 25, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Brian Bruchey.
Authorities said the suspect changed her version of the events several times, telling deputies that she slipped with a knife while doing the dishes, slicing pizza for her husband or carrying her dog with one arm.
Rachel Fidanian explained her dog was covered in feces while she was doing another task and ran to clean him up, according to an arrest affidavit. She said she asked her husband to help her and when she walked towards him, the knife still in-hand, she tripped on an area rug and stabbed him.
