- By Iliana Limón Romero

UCF did not move up in the latest top-25 polls despite numerous losses among top-10 teams Saturday.

The Knights, who are riding the nation’s longest win streak spanning 19 games, remained No. 10 in the Associated Press top-25 poll and No. 9 in the coaches’ poll released Sunday after rallying for a 31-30 win at Memphis.

UCF’s close call came on the same day many top-25 teams were pushed to the limit or suffered losses.

Knights fans were hoping to see UCF move up in the AP poll after No. 2 Georgia, No. 6 West Virginia, No. 7 Washington and No. 8 Penn State all lost.

No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Clemson and No. 4 Notre Dame were the top four teams in both polls, with the Irish replacing Georgia in the No. 4 spot after the Bulldogs’ loss to LSU.

The following one-loss teams claimed spots ahead of 6-0 UCF in the AP poll: No. 5 LSU, No. 6 Michigan, No. 7 Texas, No. 8 Georgia and No. 9 Oklahoma.

The following one-loss teams claimed spots ahead of the undefeated Knights in the coaches’ poll: No. 5 LSU, No. 6 Georgia, No. 7 Michigan and No. 8 Texas.

Elsewhere, Florida moved up three spots to No. 11 in the latest AP poll and four spots to No. 12 in the coaches’ poll while Miami tumbled out of both polls after its loss at Virginia.

The American Athletic Conference continues to field three ranked teams, with USF No. 21 in the AP poll and No. 20 in the coaches’ poll and Cincinnati No. 20 in the AP poll and No. 21 in the coaches’ poll.

No other Group of 5 conference has a representative in the top 25 polls. The highest-ranked Group of 5 team in the final College Football Playoff rankings will earn a spot in an Access Bowl.

Last year UCF claimed the spot and defeated Auburn in the Peach Bowl to complete the only undefeated season in the country.
