Broadway’s Adam Pascal will teach, perform in Lake Mary
Theater students with the Wekiva River Players will get some special instruction in November — from Broadway performer Adam Pascal.
The star of “Rent,” “Aida,” “Something Rotten” and many other musicals will give a master class to students from 2-5 p.m. Nov. 10. Then, he’ll perform during the student showcase that evening at 8 pm.
In addition to Pascal and the workshop participants, drama students from area high schools will perform at the showcase. Tickets are $25-$45. A $95 VIP package includes a meet-and-greet reception with Pascal, as well as a photo, autograph and DVD of the performance.
Theater buffs can also observe the master class for a $10 ticket. Pascal will work one-on-one with up to 15 highschool students during the event. The student cost to participate is $125.
Pascal originated the role of Roger in “Rent” and Radames in “Aida.” His other stage credits include Huey in “Memphis,” Billy Flynn in “Chicago,” the Emcee in “Cabaret” and Freddie in “Chess.” He was last seen in Orlando playing Will Shakespeare on the national tour of “Something Rotten.” (I interviewed him before that appearance; you can read the article here.)
With two solo rock albums under his belt, and a collaborative album with pianist Larry Edoff, Pascal also frequently performs in concert.
The master class and the student showcase will both take place at Lake Mary High School, 655 Longwood-Lake Mary Road, Lake Mary. To register for the class or purchase tickets, go to wekivariverplayers.org.
