Early voting begins today

- By Steven Lemongello

Early voting begins Monday in Central Florida, with each county offering several locations to vote in the Nov. 6 general election.

The most notable new location will be at the Live Oak Event Center at the University of Central Florida, which had been without an early voting location since 2014.

It was opened after a judge ruled in July that a state ban of on-campus early voting sites was unconstitutional and appeared to be done to stop younger voters from casting ballots.

The site on the UCF campus also is in a well-trafficked location within the Gemini Boulevard loop around the main campus, instead of the previous 2014 location that was across the road.

Eligible voters can visit any early voting site in their county, not just ones located in their town or precinct, to cast a ballot.

Voters need to bring a valid form of identification with photo and signature. If you requested a mail-in ballot and have decided not to use it, you should bring it along to surrender it at the early voting site.

In Lake County, early voting begins Monday and lasts until Saturday, Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 10 locations in Clermont, Eustis, Lady Lake, Tavares, Mount Dora, Leesburg, Minneola and Umatilla.

In Orange County, early voting begins Monday and lasts until Sunday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day at 16 sites, including the Live Oaks Center at UCF and in Apopka, Winter Park, Winter Garden, Ocoee and Orlando.

In Osceola County, early voting begins Monday and lasts until Sunday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day at six locations in Kissimmee, St. Cloud, Poinciana and Celebration.

In Seminole County, early voting begins Monday and last until Sunday, Nov. 4 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day at seven locations in Sanford, Longwood, Oviedo, Casselberry and Lake Mary.
