Bridges to receive DeMille Award:
Next month’s Golden Globe Awards will showcase Jeff Bridges’ life and illustrious career by bestowing him one of its highest honors. Bridges will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award during the 76th annual awards ceremony on Jan. 6, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced Monday. The DeMille Award is given annually to an “individual who has made an incredible impact on the world of entertainment.”
Alabama marks 50 years:
Country band Alabama will mark their 50th year together with a new tour in 2019. The Grammywinning trio of Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry and Jeff Cook formed in 1969 in Fort Payne, Ala., and went on to dominate the sound of country music in the 1980s. Their new tour begins Jan. 10 in Detroit.
Offset speaks out:
Offset, Cardi B’s estranged husband, explained in a tweet Sunday why he crashed her headlining set at a Los Angeles musical festival in order to beg for her forgiveness, saying that a public grand gesture felt like the only way to go. “All of my wrongs have been made public, I figure it’s only right that my apologies are made public too,” he wrote. Cardi did not smile at her former partner’s request, and instead spoke with him briefly on stage before removing his gifts and continuing her performance.
