Sixers pay tribute to Moses Malone

-

The 76ers paid tribute to the late Moses Malone, a three-time NBA MVP and one of basketball’s most ferocious rebounders, with a sculpture and a jersey retirement ceremony.

The Sixers unveiled the sculpture Friday morning at their practice facility. They retired Malone’s No. 2 jersey during halftime of Friday’s 117-110 win over the Nuggets.

Malone was a 13-time All-Star, Hall of Fame inductee and a member of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA history. In 1983, he helped the 76ers roll through the playoffs and sweep the Lakers — the last time they won a championship. He returned to the 76ers for the 1993-1994 season.

Andre Drummond had 29 points and 20 rebounds, and the Pistons beat the visiting Knicks 120-103. It was the Knicks’ 15th straight loss . ... Bobby Portis scored 30 points in his Wizards debut, Bradley Beal added 25 points and 12 assists, and the host Wizards beat the Cavaliers 119-106. In his first game back after foot surgery forced him to miss 50 games, Cavs F Kevin Love played the first six minutes, scoring four points. He didn’t return.
