Dad shot after uninvited teens crash house party

- By Lisa Maria Garza

A man was shot early Sunday morning during a house party in Oak Hill that he was hosting for his high school children, according to the Volusia County Sheriff ’s Office.

Four teenagers showed up at the home around 1 a.m. — in the 100 block East Church Street — and a confrontation occurred after they were asked to leave, said spokeswoman Laura Williams.

One teenager refused to go and shots were fired, hitting the victim in the neck, Williams said. The group of teenagers then left the scene, she added.

The unidentified man was taken by helicopter to Halifax Health Medical Center, where he is in critical but stable condition.

Deputies are investigating the shooting, Williams said, and the incident is not considered a random act. A description of the shooter has not been released.
