BASEBALL: Giants manager Bruce Bochy announced that he will retire after this season, his 25th as a major league manager. Bochy, who turns 64 on April 16, is entering his 13th season with the Giants. He led the team to World Series titles in 2010, 2012 and 2014. Bochy, who was NL manager of the year with the Padres in 1996, said he intends to stay in baseball in another role that has yet to be determined . ... The Rockies will move four-time All-Star Charlie Blackmon to right field. Blackmon, 32, has been with the Rockies since 2014 and has played the most games in center field (691) in franchise history. Ian Desmond will move from first base to center, while David Dahl will play left field . ... Red Sox Chairman Tom Werner said the team and seven-time All-Star LHP Chris Sale have had “private discussion­s” about a contract extension. Sale, who turns 30 on March 30, will earn $15 million this season, the final year of his current deal . ... Angels owner Arte Moreno said the team has had internal discussion­s about a new contract for OF Mike Trout. The 27-year-old two-time AL MVP will earn $33.25 million over the next two seasons . ... Cubs Chairman Tom Ricketts apologized to the team’s players and coaching staff at spring training for any distractio­n caused by offensive racist emails written by his father. Joe Ricketts’ emails were published by Splinter News and included Islamophob­ic comments. Other emails included conspiraci­es about former President Barack Obama’s birthplace and education.

COLLEGES: Rice entered The Associated Press women’s basketball poll for the first time in school history. The Owls, who are ranked No. 25, have won 15 straight games. It’s the nation’s second-longest active winning streak.

NFL: The Jaguars exercised their $12 million contract option on four-time Pro Bowl DE Calais Campbell for next season. Campbell, 32, totaled 139 tackles, 25 sacks and four forced fumbles in his first two seasons with the team . ... The 49ers are expected to use the franchise tag on former Pro Bowl K Robbie Gould, according to reports. If the team and Gould are unable to agree on a multiyear contract, Gould, 36, will earn about $5 million under the tag . ... ESPN reported that former Oklahoma WR Marquise Brown, a projected top-15 pick in the draft, underwent surgery for a Lisfranc injury last month that will prevent him from participat­ing in the combine and his pro day. He’s expected to be ready for training camp.

SOCCER: Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba each scored first-half goals to lift Manchester United to a 2-0 victory over host Chelsea 2-0 and into the quarterfin­al round of the FA Cup . ... MLS club Orlando City and former United winger Nani agreed to three-year contract as a designated player. Nani, 32, was given a free transfer from Portugal’s Sporting Lisbon . ... U.S. internatio­nal Christian Pulisic sat out Bundesliga leader Borussia Dortmund’s scoreless draw against visiting Bayer Leverkusen with a thigh injury. Pulisic tore a muscle fiber during the club’s 3-0 Champions League loss to Tottenham on Wednesday.

TENNIS: Serena Williams returned to the top 10 for the first time since taking a break to have her first child. Williams, 37, dropped as low as 491st upon her return to competitio­n in March 2018 but is up to No. 10 after reaching two Grand Slam finals.
