Time capsule marks Orlando Health-Horizon West construction
Orlando Health dedicated a time capsule to celebrate the first phase of the construction of Orlando Health-Horizon West Hospital in Winter Garden.
With items such as a map of the West Orange County community, a stethoscope and a pair of no-slip socks, the time capsule is meant to capture a current snapshot of the medical campus and the surrounding community.
“As we look ahead 50 years from now, this time capsule will give the next generation a better sense of not only who Orlando Health was, but also the many community partners that all had a hand in making this hospital a reality,” said David Strong, President/CEO of Orlando Health, in a news release.
The 103-bed, six-story hospital is expected to open in early 2021. It is adjacent to an Orlando Health emergency department and medical pavilion that opened in 2018. The hospital is expected go create more than 750 new permanent health-care jobs. The project cost is $145 million, according to the health system.
In brief
