An 8-year-old boy’s frantic 911 call to report that his mother was being strangled led to the arrest of the woman’s husband on a seconddegree murder charge Monday night, according to the Orange County Sheriff ’s Office.

Deputies said they arrived at an apartment on Sand Lake Road to find the boy’s mother, Tyneel Lindsey, on the floor of the master bedroom closet, unresponsive and covered in blood. Her husband, 36-year-old Jason Lindsey, was leaving the closet with blood on his clothes, an arrest affidavit said.

Orange County Fire Rescue took Tyneel Lindsey to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

In the 911 call, which the Sheriff ’s Office refused to release Tuesday morning, the boy reported that his stepdad was “strangling” his mother, according to the affidavit. The boy was distraught and could be heard yelling for Jason Lindsey to stop, the report said.

According to the report, Jason Lindsey admitted to deputies he choked and repeatedly stabbed his wife while she was unarmed on the bedroom floor after an argument.

He was adamant he was defending himself, the report said.

In an interview, Jason Lindsey told deputies he and Tyneel Lindsey had been together for about six years and she had been physically abusing him about half that time. He claimed she had stabbed him twice in the past because she believed he was cheating, the report said.

On Monday, he said she confronted him about being unfaithful, leading to an argument in the master bedroom, according to the report. He told deputies Tyneel Lindsey “rushed” at him, scratching his face with her nails, then left the bedroom and grabbed a small kitchen knife.

He said she “rushed” him again with the knife, but he was able to wrestle it out of her hands, the affidavit said. He told deputies he “kinda lost it” and grabbed his wife’s throat with one hand, then stabbed her with the kitchen knife while still strangling her, the report said.

After hearing his mother cry out for help, the 8-year-old came into the bedroom and saw Jason Lindsey strangling her, the affidavit said.

After being interviewed by deputies, Jason Lindsey was arrested on a charge of second degree murder with a weapon and booked into Orange County Jail, where he was being held without bond.
