UCF climbs AP poll after rout of Stanford
UCF moved up in the latest Associated Press top-25 poll, but the Knights saw no movement in the coaches’ poll after a 45-27 win over Stanford on Saturday the Knights dominated from start to finish.
The Knights were ranked No. 15 in the AP poll, climbing two spots from No. 17.
UCF stayed at No. 16 in the coaches’ poll.
The lack of movement could be attributed to limited change above the Knights in the polls, with higher-ranked teams winning during the weekend.
The Knights have been ranked in the top-25 polls for 31 consecutive weeks dating to Week 6 of the 2017 season.
Elsewhere, the Florida Gators remained No. 9 in the AP poll and No. 8 in the coaches’ poll after rallying to beat Kentucky on the road under the direction of backup quarterback Kyle Trask.
No other team from the state of Florida is ranked or receiving votes.
The Knights remain the highest-ranked Group of 5 team in both polls, with Boise State moving up two spots in both polls to land at No. 20.
The highest-ranked Group of 5 champion in the College Football Playoff rankings that will be released weekly later this season will earn a bid to an Access Bowl. UCF has earned that bid the past two seasons, going to the Peach and Fiesta bowls.
The top four teams remained the same in the AP poll: No. 1 Clemson, No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Georgia and No. 4 LSU.
The coaches’ poll top four also remained the same: No. 1 Clemson, No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Georgia and No. 4 Oklahoma.
