Aquat­ica adding Rip­tide Race, a du­el­ing-rafts wa­ter slide

Rip­tide Race, a side-by­side, du­el­ing-rafts wa­ter slide, will be added to the lineup at Aquat­ica, SeaWorld’s wa­ter park.

It’s ex­pected to open in 2020, the Or­lando park an­nounced Fri­day af­ter­noon.

The new slide will be lo­cated at the wa­ter park’s Banana Beach Cook­out and Ray Rush, which opened in 2018. Rip­tide

Race will be the first ad­di­tion since KareKare Curl opened last spring.

The ride will start from a 68-foot tower and travel more than 650 feet of slide, of­fi­cials say. “Rac­ers will nav­i­gate tight loops and ac­cel­er­a­tions through in­door and out­door sec­tions,” a news re­lease says. Each raft will hold two peo­ple apiece. The at­trac­tion will have low walls so that non-rid­ers can watch eas­ily.
