Gators land former Georgia commit OL Braun of Suwannee

Orlando Sentinel - - SPORTS WEEKEND - By Chris Hays

The Florida Gators took a huge step in helping to shore up their offensive line through recruiting Friday when four-star Live Oak Suwannee High tackle Josh Braun flipped his commitment from Georgia to UF.

With less than a week before Wednesday’s early National Signing Day for the 2020 class, the Gators now have five offensive linemen — including three tackles — committed among their 23 pledges.

With Braun’s pledge, UF’s 2020 recruiting class ranks No. 6 nationally, according to 247Sports.com’s composite rankings.

Braun, who went on to star at Georgia Tech, helps address a huge need for the Gators.

Braun will give the Gators another immediate option at tackle and they’ll need freshmen to step up with starter Stone Forsythe, the former West Orange star, graduating. Current starting guard Richard Gouriage, a redshirt freshman, is also considered the back-up left tackle. Florida returns starting right tackle Jean Delance, a redshirt junior, and behind him is freshman Michael Tarquin, but beyond that, UF has limited experience.

Two other tackles are also committed in Issiah Walker of Miami Norland and Gerald Mincey of Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons, as well as a pair of guards in Richie Leonard of Cocoa and Jovens Janvier of Miami Christian.
