Demings hires sustainability officer for Orange County

Benavides, a graduate of the University of Central Florida’s Rosen College, is co-founder and principal partner of Orlando-based L.E. Rigby Innovations.
The company provides sustainability and climate training throughout the U.S. and the Caribbean, and has been ranked by
Newsweek magazine among the nation’s 100 “greenest companies.”
He also co-founded ecoPreserve, which implemented a wide range of energy, organizational and waste efficiencies at the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando International Airport and Orlando Health.
Monday is his first day work.
He will draw an annual salary of about $116,000, roughly $56 an hour.
Demings described Benavides as a sustainability “pioneer” whose firm worked with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and the city of Orlando develop programs that saved millions in energy and water costs. of
