SeaWorld’s Christmas treats make the holidays sweeter

Orlando Sentinel - - PEOPLE & ARTS - By Amy Drew Thompson

There’s loads to be excited about over at SeaWorld, where three million lights and an all-new parade are among the highlights of this year’s Christmas Celebration. Planning on a visit? Odds are good someone in your party will be interested in making the season sweeter.

The folks at SeaWorld must have been counting on it, because they’ve introduced a host of new holiday treats, all of which are available now through Dec. 31.

Orlando’s weather is unpredictable in wintertime. In the event of a cool snap, you’re covered. Hot cocoa with whipped cream and toppings comes in a Christmas souvenir mug ($7.99) and in an array of flavors: butterscotch (topped with crushed Butterfinger), marshmallow (topped with mini marshmallows), white chocolate (topped with milk chocolate shavings), gingerbread (topped with crushed ginger snap cookies) and peppermint (topped with crushed peppermint). Refills available for $3.99.

Less traditional, the gooey monkey bread topped with bourbon crème anglaise ($8.99) is served in a waffle cone.

And speaking of waffles, madness abounds. At $6.99 apiece, variety is plentiful in berry (with wild raspberry sauce), Boston cream (topped with Bavarian cream and chocolate sauce), peanut butter (with banana, peanut butter and chocolate sauce) or Guinness (topped with bacon, maple syrup and Guinness-infused cream). The rest get the standard whipped cream slathering.

Kids — and those who enjoy a bit of interactive fun with their desserts — will love the Cookie & Milk option ($6.99), a sugar cookie decorating kit that comes with icing, sprinkles and Christmas candy — and yes, you’ll get some milk to wash it down. membership.orlandosentinel.com/newsletters.
