Rangers halt 3-game skid
Chris Kreider scored twice and the Rangers beat the Ducks 5-1 on Sunday in New York to end a three-game losing streak.
Mika Zibanejad had a goal and an assist, while Filip Chytil and Brett Howden also scored for the Rangers. Henrik Lundqvist made 19 saves.
Sam Steel scored for the Ducks and Ryan Miller made 36 saves.
More surgery for Chara: Bruins defenseman and captain Zdeno Chara will miss Monday’s home game against the Capitals to have more surgery on the jaw he broke in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final before returning for Game 5.
Chara developed an infection and will have the plates and screws removed.
The 42-year-old seven-time All-Star said he thinks he might miss only the Caps game and will be able to return after the Christmas break for Friday’s road game against the Sabres.
Chara was hit in the jaw by a shot during Game 4 of last season’s Cup final against the Blues and suffered multiple fractures.
He had his jaw wired together and was able to return to the series, wearing a full face mask.
One-timers: Matthew Tkachuk, Sean Monahan and Mikael Backlund scored power-play goals and the Flames beat the host Stars 5-1. The three power-play goals were the most for Flames in a game this season, and the most allowed by the Stars. ...
