Rangers halt 3-game skid

Chris Krei­der scored twice and the Rangers beat the Ducks 5-1 on Sun­day in New York to end a three-game los­ing streak.

Mika Zibane­jad had a goal and an as­sist, while Filip Chytil and Brett How­den also scored for the Rangers. Hen­rik Lundqvist made 19 saves.

Sam Steel scored for the Ducks and Ryan Miller made 36 saves.

More surgery for Chara: Bru­ins de­fense­man and cap­tain Zdeno Chara will miss Mon­day’s home game against the Cap­i­tals to have more surgery on the jaw he broke in Game 4 of the Stan­ley Cup Fi­nal be­fore re­turn­ing for Game 5.

Chara de­vel­oped an in­fec­tion and will have the plates and screws re­moved.

The 42-year-old seven-time All-Star said he thinks he might miss only the Caps game and will be able to re­turn af­ter the Christ­mas break for Fri­day’s road game against the Sabres.

Chara was hit in the jaw by a shot dur­ing Game 4 of last sea­son’s Cup fi­nal against the Blues and suf­fered mul­ti­ple frac­tures.

He had his jaw wired to­gether and was able to re­turn to the se­ries, wear­ing a full face mask.

One-timers: Matthew Tkachuk, Sean Mon­a­han and Mikael Back­lund scored power-play goals and the Flames beat the host Stars 5-1. The three power-play goals were the most for Flames in a game this sea­son, and the most al­lowed by the Stars. ... Clay­ton Keller had two goals and an as­sist to lead the vis­it­ing Coy­otes past the Red Wings 5-2.
