Jack­ets’ Atkin­son to miss 2-3 weeks

The Blue Jack­ets placed right wing Cam Atkin­son on in­jured re­serve Thurs­day with a sprained an­kle. He’s ex­pected to miss two to three weeks of ac­tion.

The move is retroac­tive to Dec. 19, when Atkin­son in­jured his an­kle against the Kings.

Atkin­son, 30, has nine goals and 12 as­sists in 35 games this sea­son. He scored 41 goals last sea­son and had 20 or more goals in each of the last six sea­sons.

The Blue Jack­ets re­called left wing Jakob Lilja, cen­ter Ryan MacIn­nis and de­fense­man Gabriel Carls­son from their AHL af­fil­i­ate in Cleve­land.

The Jack­ets also called up de­fens­man Adam Clen­den­ing for the first time this sea­son.

Hawks ail­ing: Black­hawks de­fense­man Brent Seabrook will have surgery three times in the next three months, rais­ing ques­tions about his fu­ture af­ter win­ning three Stan­ley Cups with his only NHL team.

The 34-year-old Seabrook is sched­uled for a sea­son-end­ing op­er­a­tion on his right shoul­der Fri­day. He also will have surgery on his hips in Jan­u­ary and Fe­bru­ary.

Seabrook is un­der con­tract through the 2023-24 sea­son at an av­er­age an­nual value of $6,875,000.

The last-place Black­hawks placed Seabrook and fel­low de­fense­man Calvin de Haan on longterm IR on Thurs­day.

Winger Bran­don Saad will be out three weeks with a right an­kle injury.
