Blues top Jets, earn 8th straight victory
Jaden Schwartz scored twice and Jordan Binnington made 25 saves to help the Blues beat the Jets 4-1 on Sunday in St. Louis for their season-best eighth straight victory.
Ryan O’Reilly and Robert Thomas also scored for the Blues. The defending Stanley Cup champions improved to 26-8-6, outscoring opponents 3216 during the winning streak. They had a sevengame streak Oct. 27-Nov. 9.
Nicholas Shore scored and Connor Hellebuyck made 24 saves for the Jets, who have lost five of six.
Schwartz gave the Blues a 2-1 lead with 4:51 left in the second period, taking a feed from Jordan Kyrou on a two-on-one break and beating Hellebuyck through the legs. Schwartz added an empty-netter with 30 seconds left. He has 13 goals, two more than last season. In a six-game points streak, he has four goals and eight assists.
Devils win in OT: Jack Hughes scored 54 seconds into OT and the Devils beat the host Senators 4-3.
Kyle Palmieri passed to Hughes near center ice. Hughes broke loose with the puck on his backhand. He switched to the forehand and flipped the puck over Craig Anderson for his sixth of the season.
Nico Hischier and Nikita Gusev had power-play goals for the Devils.
The Senators’ Scott Sabourin made his return from injury. He broke his nose and suffered a concussion Nov. 2.
