Blues top Jets, earn 8th straight vic­tory

Jaden Schwartz scored twice and Jor­dan Bin­ning­ton made 25 saves to help the Blues beat the Jets 4-1 on Sun­day in St. Louis for their sea­son-best eighth straight vic­tory.

Ryan O’Reilly and Robert Thomas also scored for the Blues. The de­fend­ing Stan­ley Cup cham­pi­ons im­proved to 26-8-6, outscor­ing op­po­nents 3216 dur­ing the win­ning streak. They had a se­v­engame streak Oct. 27-Nov. 9.

Ni­cholas Shore scored and Con­nor Helle­buyck made 24 saves for the Jets, who have lost five of six.

Schwartz gave the Blues a 2-1 lead with 4:51 left in the sec­ond pe­riod, tak­ing a feed from Jor­dan Ky­rou on a two-on-one break and beat­ing Helle­buyck through the legs. Schwartz added an empty-net­ter with 30 sec­onds left. He has 13 goals, two more than last sea­son. In a six-game points streak, he has four goals and eight as­sists.

Devils win in OT: Jack Hughes scored 54 sec­onds into OT and the Devils beat the host Senators 4-3.

Kyle Palmieri passed to Hughes near cen­ter ice. Hughes broke loose with the puck on his back­hand. He switched to the fore­hand and flipped the puck over Craig An­der­son for his sixth of the sea­son.

Nico His­chier and Nikita Gu­sev had power-play goals for the Devils.

The Senators’ Scott Sabourin made his re­turn from in­jury. He broke his nose and suf­fered a con­cus­sion Nov. 2.
