Giant leap for renewable energy

Orlando Sentinel - - OPINION -

March 29: The A1 headline on March 27, “Pence to NASA: Go to moon by ‘24”, got my attention. I recall being inspired by President John F. Kennedy’s words at the beginning of the moonshot program in the 1960s. We need another “moonshot” effort. But not to the moon.

Vice President Mike Pence missed a chance to reignite that spark of urgency that propelled America to the vanguard of space exploration 50 years ago by proposing a national effort promising much greater benefit to mankind than any moon rock could provide: Developing new technologies making renewable energy sources and electrical storage much more efficient and affordable than they are today.
