Practice gratitude in the new year

Bam, just like that: It’s a new decade.

What to change? What should we improve upon? Last question. Got gratitude?

Self-awareness, as numerous studies indicate, is a hallmark for success in just about any category you deem appropriat­e.

If that’s the case, I have just one last question for you during this season of new year glee. How self-aware are you of your capacities for gratitude? How would you rate yourself?

This is an existentia­lly humongous word, gratitude. At light speed, it heals any affliction or ailment you experience or can imagine. It predominat­es as a virtue, meaning you simply cannot have too much of it. You can be too nice; think doormat. You can be too thoughtful; think action deficiency. You simply cannot have, or act upon, too much gratitude. He who has the most, wins.

So if this is the case, how to make more? Can you drum it up, on demand?

Yes, emphatical­ly.

And here are three suggestion­s for you in 2020 to do just, catalyze supply of the world’s most powerful, meaningful and useful elixir.

First, turn off your “smartphone” for significan­t swaths of time. Busy-ness from the devices stymies gratitude manufactur­ing. We must get off the altar of the urgent, and on to the altar of what’s important, for 2020. Gratitude is important.

Next, vigorous exercise is critical for a meaningful, gratitude-centered existence. We are designed for action, of the “all in” variety. Get it on, irrespecti­ve of the exercise.

Lastly, practice gratitude with journaling. Pen and paper. Try it for 30 days, same time each day. Your G Muscle will fortify over the month, sculpting you as a person of greater joy. You will become light for others.
