Orlando comedian Amanda Seales has joined “The Real” as the syndicated talk show’s fifth co-host.

Seales, who stars on HBO’s “Insecure,” had been a guest host several times last year.

“What was always so great when I would come and guest-host with y’all was, I remember at the end of the first two weeks I looked up and was like, ‘Wait, I was myself for the whole two weeks and I didn’t have to think about anything,’” she said.

“The Real” announced Seales was a permanent co-host on Monday’s show. She joins Loni Love, Jeannie Mai, Tamera MowryHousley and Adrienne Houghton.

After being showered by confetti, Seales was in tears about her new job.

“We are in a business and in a town where you are being scrutinized so much, and it’s always like, ‘You gotta play the game,’” Seales said. “It’s really just dope to come to a space where there was four women who I get along with on and off-screen, and we have different personalities, and we have different points of view, but that’s the world, that’s what it is.”

She said it was an honor to bring her voice to “The Real.”

“I have been at this a long time. I did not just show up,” Seales, 38, told her fellow hosts. “I am not new to this y’all. So, to get to be here and have somewhere to sit every day and be myself and talk to the world is an honor.”

Seales, a graduate of Dr. Phillips High School, was born in Los Angeles. At 8, she moved to Orlando, where as a kid she worked in the entertainment industry. She acted in the Nickelodeon series “My Brother and Me,” danced at Walt Disney World and performed in commercials.

She plays Tiffany on “Insecure,” which has completed filming its fourth season. She headlined the HBO special “I Be Knowin’” and hosted NBC’s “Bring the Funny,” a contest for comedians. She has continued to tour as a comedian.

“The beauty of my shows is that when audiences come to an Amanda Seales show, it’s like we’re hanging out,” she told me before playing Orlando last year. “You don’t say the same conversations to your friends over and over again. So you’re not going to get the same show over and over again with me.”

That approach should help her on “The Real.”
