Chicken Guy adding more indoor seating

Orlando Sentinel - - LOCAL & STATE - By Dewayne Bevil

Chicken Guy is getting plumper. The Disney Springs fast-food restaurant that specializes in chicken fingers and multiple dipping sauces — and has ties with celebrity chef Guy Fieri — is expanding.

Work has begun to put in additional indoor seating to the eatery using the space that formerly was the gift shop for the adjacent Planet Hollywood restaurant. The current set-up for Chicken Guy, which opened in mid-2018, has about a dozen tables inside, seating 38 customers. Those are supplemented by patio seating near the general walkway for Disney Springs visitors.

The addition of 70 seats will bring the total indoor capacity to 108. The renovations, expected to be complete in mid-March, also include a second drink station and bathrooms.

The restaurant typically has lines literally out the door. The concept was introduced by Fieri and restaurateur Robert Earl, who runs brands including Planet Hollywood and Earl of Sandwich. Chicken Guy is based on the ground floor of the Planet Hollywood observatory-shaped building at Disney Springs.

“Everyone else is going to hate us, but the lines will be out the door,” Earl told the Sentinel in the days before the new restaurant opened.

The menu includes chicken tenders, chicken sandwiches, chicken salads and sides such as Mac Daddy Mac and Cheese.

Restaurants in the works for Disney Springs include Beatrix, which will take over the footprint of the former Bongos restaurant, and City Works, located in the same building as the NBA Experience. Also on tap is an Ample Hills Creamery ice cream outlet. All three will operate in the shopping and entertainment complex’s West Side area. There are other Chicken Guy locations in Miami’s Aventura Mall and outlets in football stadiums in Santa Clara, Calif., and Landover, Md.
