Judge re­duces bond for fa­ther-in-law ac­cused in death of Ni­cole Mon­talvo

A judge or­dered bond be re­duced for An­gel Rivera af­ter agree­ing with Rivera’s lawyer that the orig­i­nal $350,000 was ex­ces­sive, open­ing the pos­si­bil­ity for him to be re­leased from the Osce­ola County jail in the killing of 33-year-old daugh­ter-in-law Ni­cole Mon­talvo.

Fri­day morn­ing’s de­ci­sion by Cir­cuit Judge Keith Carsten al­lows Rivera to be re­leased from jail on a $160,000 bond on charges of abuse of a dead body and not re­port­ing Mon­talvo’s death to the med­i­cal ex­am­iner. Rivera’s also be­ing held on an ad­di­tional $10,000 bond for pos­sess­ing am­mu­ni­tion as a con­victed felon.
