SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon and point guard D.J. Augustin, both of whom missed Friday’s game in Phoenix, were available for Monday’s game against the Sacramento Kings at Golden 1 Center.
Gordon sat out the game against the Suns with tightness in his right calf that he said cropped up during the team’s victory Wednesday against the Washington Wizards in Orlando.
Augustin, meanwhile, was out for the Phoenix game with a left knee contusion. It was the first game the veteran point guard has missed this season, although he characterized the issue as more of a “nagging” soreness than an injury.
Nonetheless, their absence further depleted a Magic roster
that already was missing starting forward Jonathan Isaac (knee), reserve forward AlFarouq Aminu (knee) and reserve guard Michael Carter-Williams (shoulder).
Magic coach Steve Clifford said Gordon and Augustin, both of whom participated in parts of practice on Sunday, would go through the team’s morning shootaround and be re-evaluated before the game.
Gordon said the training staff put the decision in his hands and he was going to do “everything in my power to play tonight.”
Carter-Williams, however, was not available for the Magic. He has been working his way back from a shoulder sprain he sustained Dec. 20 in Portland and was hopeful he might return for Monday’s game.
“MCW’s still a little bit away,” Clifford said.
Meanwhile, versatile forward Marvin Bagley III returned to the Kings lineup. The 6-foot-11 Bagley, who’s averaging 13.7 points and 6.9 rebounds, missed the past eight games due to a left foot sprain.
The Kings, who have been plagued by a slew of injuries as well, played without key forwards Bogdan Bogdanovic (ankle) and Richaun Holmes (shoulder).
Magic forward Aaron Gordon moves the ball against the Wizards on Wednesday. Gordon has tightness in his right calf.
