Stubblefield said in the statement. “I am appreciative of the opportunity to have belonged to such an illustrious institution.”
Stubblefield thanked “The U,” coach Manny Diaz, Enos, the city of Miami and its fans in his tweet. He named all the Hurricanes receivers of last season and wrote, “You have each added unique value to our room. You have made me proud to have coached the wide receivers at the University of Miami.”
Joining Penn State for the 2020 season, Stubblefield will coach at a 10th different school in 14 years. Before UM, Stubblefield coached at Air Force (2017-18), Utah (2014-16), Wake Forest (2013), New Mexico (2012), Central Michigan (2011), Illinois State (2009-10), Eastern Michigan (2008) and Central Washington (2007). He also coached briefly in the Canadian Football League in 2016 with the Toronto Argonauts.
As a player, Stubblefield was a consensus All-American receiver at Purdue in 2004.
“It’s a great honor to join Coach [James] Franklin and the Penn State football family,” Stubblefield said in a statement released by Penn State. “As a product of the Big Ten, I embrace the magnitude of coaching at one of the premier programs in the nation and in one of the most accomplished conferences in all of college football. My family and I are fired up to call State College home.”
Said Franklin in a statement: “Taylor has a strong familiarity with the Big Ten Conference. He was an elite wide receiver as an All-American at Purdue, setting NCAA, Big Ten and school receiving records, some of which he still holds today. He will bring his passion and knowledge to our young wide receiver room. Taylor has a wide range of experiences as a coach, both at the college and professional levels. Taylor really separated himself during the interview process and we are thrilled about the future of our wide receivers under his guidance.”
