Players are adapting to changes

Norvell likes how his athletes have responded to limitations imposed by coronavirus

Florida State coach Mike Norvell hasn’t thought about the long-term impact of the coronavirus outbreak on the upcoming college football season.

Instead, the first-year Seminoles coach is choosing to focus on the day-to-day challenges that go with running a program amid self-isolation.

“Really, none of us have any control over that right now and my focus is on today,” Norvell said when asked about the viability of the upcoming season during a video conference with reporters.

“That’s how I operate and that’s how I will always operate. I try not to get too carried away with worrying about whether something will or will not happen.”

For Norvell, each day includes online meetings with coaches, staff members and players scattered across the country. It’s an atypical approach that football programs around the nation have been forced to embrace.
