Two women were arrested this week on charges of first-degree murder in the violent death of a 71-year-old man, according to the Orange County Sheriff ’s Office.

Mahadeo Singh was found dead and wrapped in “bloody plastic bags” Saturday in a Pine Hills apartment on West Colonial Drive, according to the arrest documents.

Nadia Wright-Robinson, who was found in the apartment with Singh’s body, and Chiquita Dorell Howard, who was found walking near the apartment with bloody shoes, have since been arrested in Singh’s death, OCSO said. It took a few days for officials to confirm Singh’s identity.

Deputies were called to the apartment in the 4900 block of West Colonial Drive about 9:30 a.m. Saturday after a woman called 911, saying she killed an unknown man who was on top of her when she woke up, the arrest report said. Deputies initially found

Wright-Robinson, 43, sitting on the bed in the room with Singh’s body.

Howard, 30, told investigators that she had thrown a vase at the man and then fled the room, the report said. But deputies said that story did not match up with Singh’s obvious trauma, which included stab wounds to the neck and torso, as well as the “significant amount of blood on the ground and blood splatter on the wall,” her arrest report said.

Deputies also said that after speaking with Howard, “it was clear she was the 911 caller who confessed to the murder,” the report said. In the call, the woman said she woke up to an “old dude” on top of her and she beat him up, the report said. She added, “I think I killed him.”

Deputies wrote in the report that Howard had no injuries.

Howard was arrested Sunday, the day after the killing. WrightRobinson was arrested Thursday. were either missing a signature or there was no signature match. Those voters had until Thursday at 5p.m. to resolve the issue with affidavits.

Three ballots were returned by the deadline although one resident didn’t cast a vote for the Seat 4 race, he said.

“We recounted each ballot and verified and every number matched,” Cowles said. “That’s where Mack picked up two and Mack went into the lead by one.”

Mack did not immediately comment on the recount. Daniels thanked supporters in a statement and called for unity among town residents.

“Please know that I’ll take what I learned on the campaign trail from this cycle and years past to continue to fight to ensure the highest levels of integrity of elections in this town,” he wrote.
