Diving into Disney Plus

‘Snow White’ sets tone for animation (and says to wash your hands)

COMMENTARY

The prospect of being isolated for days/weeks/months prompted me to push the button. I’m now officially a Disney Plus person. Unlike many subscribers, I lacked a clear, desirable starting point for the streaming service. Then it hit me: I’ll watch all the Disney animated films in chronological order, starting with “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.”

That gives me structure in a wobbly world. I’ll automatically know what’s up next, so there won’t be time for coronavirusbased fret to infiltrate. Then my editor said I could write about them, so here’s my plan. I’ll post, let’s say weekly, minireviews of Disney animation, in the order of appearance. They will be modern takes, presented in digestible bits.

This doesn’t mean I won’t dip into the original Disney Plus offerings or live-action fare on the side. When I’m feeling the pandemic panic, I may need to have a “High School Musical” fix, for “We’re All in This Together.”

For now, let’s go back to 1937, when Walt Disney released the first feature-length animated film,

?? WALT DISNEY PRODUCTIONS ?? “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” was the first full-length animated movie when it was released by Walt Disney Productions in 1937.
