Legoland Florida is extending its temporary shutdown through April 14, the Winter Haven theme park announced Friday. Its original closure period, prompted by the coronavirus pandemic, was intended to end at the end of March.

The Legoland Hotel, which is adjacent to the theme park, is operating at

“a low-occupancy level, within government guidelines,” the company said. It is giving arranging room assignments and dining options to ensure separation of groups.

The resort plans to open its new Pirate Island Hotel on May 15, and it is refiguring opening dates for a new water sports stunt show and PirateFest Weekends promotion.

Earlier this week, Universal

Orlando extended its closed-down period for its theme parks, water park, hotel and Universal CityWalk through April 19.

Visitors who had purchased a dated ticket that is valid during Legoland Florida’s closure dates, will be able to use that ticket through the end of 2020.

Legoland’s annual passholders who are not enrolled in the monthly payment program will receive an extension of one month for every month that the park is closed to their pass. Monthly pay passholders will have their payments suspended starting April 1 until the theme park reopens.

Legoland parks are operated by Merlin Entertainments Group, based in England.
