Ocoee football player and Louisville signee Dexter Rentz Jr.’s funeral will be held on Saturday.

The service will be at the New Life Church of God in Christ at 3311 North Powers Ave. Limited seating will be available, however, and the family is asking those who want to pay their respects to watch the livestream at www.paxvilla.com.

A viewing is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and the funeral will start at 1 p.m.

Rentz, one of the top football players in the Central Florida 2020 senior class, was shot and killed April 25. Three others were injured during the shooting, which took place as an after-funeral gathering was ending in the Carver Shores area of Orlando.

Rentz, according to his mother, was hit by a bullet on his left side and died en route to the hospital. She said he was not the intended target of the shooting.

No arrests have been made. Police have asked anyone with information about the shooting to call Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS. A tip that leads to an arrest could result in a cash reward of up to $5,000.

Former NBA legend and Orlando Magic star Shaquille O’Neal told ESPN he would pay for Rentz’s funeral expenses.
