Fultz’s top 5 games so far this season

Markelle Fultz has made the most of his first season with the Orlando Magic. Here is a look back of five of his best games so far this season:

Oct. 23, 2019

Magic 94, Cavaliers 85

You knew his season debut would make the list. Fultz brought a number of “oohs” and “aahs” from the Amway Center crowd during a 12-point, 6-assist night in his first regular-season NBA game since Nov. 19, 2018. He also had two steals and three turnovers as he played nearly 23.5 minutes. Magic coach Steve Clifford called Fultz the “difference in the game.” The highlight play came in the fourth quarter when Fultz powered his way between Cavs guards Collin Sexton and Darius Garland, then exploded toward the basket as he delivered a thunderous onehanded dunk that brought the fans to their feet.

Magic 127, Wizards 118

The game served as a homecoming for Fultz, who grew up in Baltimore, played at nearby DeMatha Catholic High School and rooted for the Wizards as a kid. Fultz responded with a solid offensive game, delivering a consistent mix of drives to the basket and mid-range jump shots to finish with what was then a season-high 20 points as the Magic earned the first of their four season wins against the Wizards. He also recorded six assists to go with his ninth straight double-digit scoring effort. At one point in the first half, he was 6-of-9 from the field and had scored 12 points.

Jan. 6, 2020

Magic 101, Nets 89

Fultz posted a careerhigh 25 points on 11-of-20 shooting as he helped power the Magic to a win that pulled them into a virtual tie with the Nets for seventh in the Eastern Conference. Fultz turned it on in the fourth quarter, going 5-of-7 from the field as he accounted for all but two of the Magic’s field goals in the frame. The production helped Orlando outscore Brooklyn 26-18 and pull away for the win.

Jan. 15, 2020

Magic 119, Lakers 118

In arguably one of the defining performanc­es of his young career, Fultz posted the second tripledoub­le of his young career and helped will the Magic to a stunning win at Staples Center. Fultz finished with 21 points plus a career-high 11 rebounds and tied a thencareer-high with 10 assists. His biggest basket came when he absorbed contact from Lakers forward LeBron James and converted a layup that produced a 118-115 lead with 15.4 seconds to play.

Feb. 12, 2020

Magic 116, Pistons 112, OT

Fultz delivered a handful of plays down the stretch and into overtime when the Magic most needed them as he finished with 22 points and 10 assists. He converted an acrobatic layup and a pair of free throws before assisting on Aaron Gordon’s game-tying 3-pointer with 1:03 left in regulation. In overtime, Fultz broke a 110-110 tie with a difficult baseline jumper that put the Magic ahead to stay.
