- By Khobi Price

The Miami Hurricanes added a former Florida freshman offensive lineman as Miami Norland’s Issiah Walker announced Saturday that he’s transferring to UM.

“I’m staying home,” Walker wrote in a tweet Saturday afternoon with a picture of himself in a Hurricanes jersey.

Both Rivals and 247 Sports rated the 6-foot-4, 310-pound offensive tackle as a four-star prospect. Rivals listed Walker as a No. 40 prospect in the state while 247 Sports had him at No. 24. He was a CBS4 Nat Moore Trophy finalist, which is awarded to the top high school football player in any division in Broward, MiamiDade

or Monroe counties.

Walker signed his letter of intent with Florida in December 2019 and arrived on campus in January. He was one of the Gators’ top signees but entered the transfer portal nearly five months after joining the program.

It’s unknown if Walker will be immediately eligible with the Hurricanes for the 2020 season.

Walker’s transfer gives Miami another high-ranked offensive lineman in its 2020 recruiting class with Jalen Rivers, who enrolled early with the Hurricanes, listed as the No. 12 offensive tackle prospect in the nation. 247 Sports ranked Miami’s 2020 recruiting class No. 13 in the nation and No. 2 in the ACC.
