Child porn investigation targets WFTV employee
An engineer for WFTVChannel 9 was arrested Friday, accused of keeping child pornography on a Google account which also contained nude photos of the man in a company vehicle and pictures of fellow employees taken within the TV station’s building, warrant for his arrest shows.
Lester Keeler, who according to the warrant has worked for WFTV for 30 years, is facing three counts of possession of material depicting sexual performance of a child under 10.
In an email, Michelle Miguelez, a spokeswoman for WFTV operator Cox Media, said the company was “aware that Lester Keeler was arrested and find the allegations very disturbing.”
The statement did not address questions the Orlando Sentinel sent the station, including whether Keeler is still employed by WFTV or whether anything is being done for the employees he allegedly photographed.
“We are taking this situation very seriously and cooperating with law enforcement,” Miguelez said. “As with any arrest, we will allow the legal system to take its course.” Investigators first received tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on March 25 that an account later linked to Keeler had uploaded photos depicting the sexual exploitation of children.
