UCF pitcher Shelby Turnier, one of the most accomplished softball players in school history, achieved a major milestone on this date in 2015.

Turnier became the first AllAmerican in school history after leading the nation in ERA at 0.87 and finishing with 268 strikeouts.

She earned 2015 NFCA Division I All-America first team honors on May 27, 2015, after posting a 25-8 overall record with 10 shutouts while holding her opponents to a .148 batting average.

The American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year also became the first Knight to no-hit a conference opponent in back-toback games.

“Shelby has been lights out for us all season in the circle,” UCF coach Renee Luers-Gillispie said of her ace.

Turnier would go on to set the UCF softball career record for wins (79) and became the Knights’ highest pick in the National Pro Fastpitch

Draft when she was selected No. 11 overall by the Chicago Bandits.

The Palm Beach Gardens native is a pitching instructor who continues to play professional softball.
