Pedes­trian struck while on SR-19

A 39-year-old Or­lando woman walk­ing along State Road 19 in Lake County was struck and killed by a vehicle on Satur­day night, ac­cord­ing to the Florida High­way Pa­trol.

The woman was head­ing north near Lake Smith Road at about 8:05 p.m. when the front of a Sedan, trav­el­ing north in the right lane, struck her, ac­cord­ing to an in­ci­dent re­port.

It’s un­clear whether the crash hap­pened on the shoul­der or in the travel lane, the re­port said.

The driver, a 29-year-old Eustis man, was wear­ing his seat belt and did not sus­tain any in­juries, the re­port said.

The uniden­ti­fied woman was pro­nounced dead at the scene.

She was walk­ing with an­other pedes­trian at the time of the crash, the re­port said. No ad­di­tional in­for­ma­tion was pro­vided by FHP about the sec­ond pedes­trian.

The crash re­mains un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion.
