Orlando Shakes to begin streaming shows online

- By Matthew J. Palm

For the first time, Orlando Shakes will make some of its productions available to watch online for a nominal fee.

The streaming shows are possible thanks to a combination of factors and behind-the-scenes work during the past few weeks: The Orlando Shakes has a history of recording productions for its archives; the Actors’ Equity union agreed to a deal to allow online streaming; and a federal Payroll Protection Program loan provided a way to pay the performers.

are how we record our history and preserve the art that we’ve created,” said art istic director Jim Helsinger in announcing the shows. “During this time, when we can’t gather at the theater, we are so thankful for the opportunity to share this work and to continue to enrich our community with the performing arts.”

Helsinger directed the two titles that will be available for a limited time, June 3-14, under the agreement with Actors’ Equity.
