Road Rave music festival postponed due to protests

Producer pushes event to June 20 ‘out of respect’

- By Patrick Connolly

What was scheduled to be perhaps the first drivein music festival in Orlando, Road Rave, has now been postponed due to ongoing civil unrest after the death of George Floyd while in police custody.

The live music event at the Central Florida Fairgrounds has been rescheduled for June 20. Festival producer and headliner DJ Carnage issued a statement, saying he didn’t want to take attention away from the current movement.

“As you know, our country is going through some very tough times right now, and out of respect for this powerful movement for equality, we are postponing the Road Rave in Orlando,” he said. “We need to stand united against racism and police brutality in this country. We will unite again. Music heals and brings people together, and I look forward to doing exactly that with you on June 20th.”

The 29-year-old producer was born in Guatemala and his real name is Diamanté Anthony Blackmon.

Road Rave is a sold-out festival that can accommodate 500 cars spaced out for social distancing. In addition to Carnage, Riot Ten, Blunts & Blondes, Nitti Gritti and Gravedgr are scheduled to perform.

The rescheduled date will be held at the Central Florida Fairgrounds from 7-11 p.m. For existing ticket holders, tickets will transfer to the June 20th event automatically. For refunds, ticket holders can email contact@discodonniepresents.com.
