Good olive oil may help control blood pressure

Q: A few months ago, I started taking 2 tablespoons daily of a fresh, high-polyphenol extravirgin olive oil that I buy at a boutique olive oil store.

Of all the foods that I’ve tried for lowering my 140/90 blood pressure, this is the only one (besides beet juice) that delivered results.

The taste is tolerable. The olive oil burns the back of my throat due to the high phenol count (560 for this bottle). I think it’s well worth it.

A: People who follow a Mediterranean diet appear to have better blood pressure control and cardiovascular health (International Journal of Molecular Sciences, Sept. 23, 2019). One important feature of this dietary pattern is the dominant use of extra-virgin olive oil.

In addition to producing a favorable lipid profile, EVOO is rich in plant compounds known as phenols. One review of the effect of olive oil on blood pressure concluded that daily consumption of 2 tablespoons of EVOO can help control blood pressure.

off at those who think the world should run the way they say. It takes a lot of nerve to be ticked off at those who work for a living and have to bring their work trucks home. Most who use these are those that we need to survive: technicians, mechanics, cable installers, power reps, construction workers. Without them, you have nothing.

There is no law that says workers can’t bring their work vehicles home. Something tells me you are a wannabe HOA president. Stop being narrow minded and open your brain and see the world as it is. Not the way you want it to be.

dentists are requiring that they take our temperature when we come for an appointment, that we wear a mask, answer questions and provide information to support that we don’t have coronavirus, etc., but are they providing the same information to us about themselves and their staff so that we will know they are well?

of Seminole County’s cities has become a police state, as they sent out notices on watering days and times and in the notice ask residents to rat on neighbors if they are seen watering on the wrong day! Why don’t they do their job and have the police patrol rather than asking us to snitch on our neighbors? They don’t seem to care about illegal fireworks or speeders racing up and down residential streets.
