Patrick leans on thoughts of late dad ahead of first Father’s Day without him

Sometime within the next two months, Jacques Patrick will be reporting to training camp with the Cincinnati Bengals. He takes comfort in knowing he won’t report alone.

Patrick, a former Timber Creek High and FSU running back, signed with the Bengals in the middle of the coronaviru­s pandemic in April. It was just a big milestone, but he couldn’t share it in person with his father.

This is the first Father’s Day weekend Peter Gerard Hayes won’t be around to celebrate with his children.

He was the one who introduced Patrick to football, helped him establish God as the cornerston­e of his life and helped
